When Mrs. N first called us here at Global Dwelling, she was concerned about the crawlspace underneath her home. She said it felt like the space didn't have any insulation because of how cold her floors were above. We sent one of our highly trained home comfort specialists to the home and evaluated the crawlspace and provided the best possible solution to Mrs. N's freezing cold floors. Our specialist found that the crawlspace did not have any insulation which was affecting the overall temperature, becoming a direct link to the temperature for the floors above.

Our team of expert insulators was quick to arrive and fix Mrs. N's uncomfortable home! Our team first began by installing SilverGlo boards in the rim joists which were then air-sealed with ZypFoam. Once the rim joists were properly air-sealed and insulated, our team was then ready to encapsulate the space, which will protect the space from outside elements and diminish water mitigation into the area. The first step in installing the encapsulation system is to lay down a drainage matt which is secured with vapor barrier tape, the system was then completed by laying down our GoldSeal vapor barrier which was then sealed to the drainage matt with vapor barrier tape. 

The combination of both the encapsulation system and insulated rim joists will now improve the overall performance of the crawlspace, solving the homeowners freezing cold floor problem! 

Before the arrival of our insulation experts, this home had significant energy efficiency problems. This was causing the homeowners to be very concerned, especially with the cold season quickly approaching. We quickly sent one of our highly experienced home comfort specialist to the home to perform a very thorough energy audit to find where the home's main energy inefficiency problems were coming from. They first began by removing and disposing of all of the old nasty fiberglass insulation that was in the space. Once removed, our experts were then able to use ZypFoam to thoroughly air-seal the attic space. ZypFoam is great because it expands once applied, so all of those once easily accessible air penetrations no longer will allow leaky or unwanted air! Once the attic air-sealing was complete, our experts were then able to insulate the space with our top choice of insulation, blown-in cellulose! Our TruSoft was blown in up to 18 inches which will settle to 16 inches and insulate the home up to an R-value of 60! We were more than happy to help upgrade this once energy-inefficient home into a well-insulated, energy-efficient, and cost-effective home!

This was a great method for the home since it is known to be both energy-efficient and cost-effective, and insulates up to an R-value of 60!
