Peter, in Hyde Park, NY called us with concerns about his uncomfortable home. He had been experiencing ice cold floors and heavy drafts throughout the winter. He knew something had to change in order to make his house feel like a home again. The best next move he made was calling the insulation experts!
One of our Home comfort specialists went to Peter's home and evaluated his uncomfortable situation. Upon discovery, was moldy, damaged, matted down batt fiber glass insulation in the basement. The draft was also coming in from substantially sized air leaks around the windows. The rooms above his crawlspace we're also drastically colder than the upper floors of the home. The crawlspace also had been previously poorly insulated with lower performing materials.
Our team was eager to help Peter find comfort in his home that he's never experienced prior! Our crew worked diligently to improve the quality of life for the home and home owner. First our expert installers removed all of the bad insulation in the problem areas. They then began to insulate in the small crawlspace area beneath several rooms in the home. Insulating by lining the cold ground with an encapsulation system drainage matt and air sealing with spray foam on the rim joists. Next was the basement. They installed drainage matts for the stone walls and applied a thermal barrier. Our team also installed an encapsulation system. They then spray foamed to air seal and further insulate. Lastly they stopped the heavy drafts coming in from the windows by air sealing with spray foam.
Today, we can gladly say we have helped yet another homeowner find comfort in their home again and have made the world a little more energy efficient!
