One of the main concerns that this homeowner had with his home was how he could have his floors improved for the cold winter months. We sent one of our home comfort specialists to evaluate his basement area and to find the areas that needed improvement.

It was discovered that the basement was not air-sealed and did not have some of the exterior walls insulated. Our team of experienced air-sealing contractors started by air-sealing the rim joists in the basement with ZypFoam to close up all of the accessible air penetrations that were easily getting into the space. By air-sealing, the cold air will no longer be able to get into the basement this winter, allowing for the space to keep the warm air in and the cold air out! Our insulation contractors then properly insulated the space by installing SilverGlo along all of the exterior walls that were exposed on the outside. Insulating the exterior walls put an almost blanket-like barrier between the basement space and the temperatures outside, insulating the walls prevents this from happening by limiting the air movement which also would help reduce the high-cost energy bills.
