This crawlspace was poorly insulated allowing moisture mitigation into the space. Prior to our team of experienced insulators arrival, this home was very uncomfortable leaving the home owners to deal with cold floors, unevenly heated rooms and a lingering mildew smell. Our experts arrived to install a new and upgraded encapsulation system along with further air sealing the space with spray foam. Now this space is properly insulated and no longer leaves a lingering mildew smell, the moisture mitigation is also diminished.

Job Stories From Chichester, NY
Crawlspace Encapsulation!

This homeowner was suffering from cold freezing floors and knew he needed an upgrade! We sent one of our highly trained and experienced home comfort specialists to their home to provide the best possible solution to fix their uncomfortable floors.

Our home comfort specialist found that the best solution to fix the space was to insulate the rim joists with ZypFoam and to insulate the exterior walls. Our team of experts was quick to arrive and do just the job! They first started by removing all of the old nasty fiberglass insulation that was in the crawlspace ceiling and properly disposed of it. Once the space was clear of any old insulation and debris, our team was ready to properly insulate! They first began by insulating the rim joists in the crawlspace ceiling with SilverGlo which was then air-sealed with ZypFoam. Our team then insulated the exposed exterior walls with Foamax boards which were air-sealed with ZypFoam and further sealed with vapor barrier tape.

The combination of insulating both the rim joists and exposed exterior walls will now improve the temperatures of the floors above, so no more cold feet for these homeowners!

Crawlspace Encapsulation

When Mrs. Y called us, she had concerns about her floors being cold during the winter. The cold floors would cause her extreme discomfort, and she knew that she needed a solution to her problem. One of our highly trained home comfort specialists went to her home to perform a home comfort evaluation in order to see where her major problem areas were. Our home comfort specialist found that the crawlspace under her home was poorly insulated and needed to be upgraded. Our specialists suggested that Mrs. Y improve her crawlspace with a total clean space encapsulation system along with properly insulating the space with SprayFoam.

The main priority of our team of expert insulators was to fix Mrs. Y's problem in her home and restore her peace of mind. First, our team removed all of the old batt fiberglass insulation and debris in the space. Our team then air-sealed the crawlspace with SprayFoam to completely close up any easily accessible air penetrations. They then went in and started the installation of the new total clean space encapsulation system. The system is a drainage matt that is placed first and sealed to a vapor barrier with vapor barrier tape. The combination of both the drainage mat and the vapor barrier diminishes moisture mitigation in the area.

Mrs. Y can now be more comfortable in her own home with evenly warm floors this upcoming winter!

We have a laundry room that needs insulation on 2 walls. We will need blow in insulation from the inside through the Sheetrock.

Hello, I encapsulated my crawlspace this spring and I just started noticing a smell (cat urine/ammonia) coming from the crawlspace. I was able to locate where the smell is coming from (a few moist soil areas) and it looks like mold/fungi is growing under the vapor barrier. Would you be able to come out and take a look?

Attic needs more ventilation - it has a moldy smell to it. Only one gable vent. House has a metal roof.
